RESEARCH FROM THE Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released on Tuesday found that coronavirus infections among young adults jumped from August to September, with the agency concluding that some of the increase was likely due to colleges and universities resuming in-person classes.

From Aug. 2 to Sept. 5, weekly coronavirus cases among people aged 18-22 years increased 55%, according to the study, which analyzed data on probable and confirmed cases from health departments across the country. The largest increases came from the Northeast and Midwest.

Because about 45% of young adults in that age bracket attend colleges and universities, the CDC concluded that “it is likely that some of this increase is linked to resumption of in-person attendance at some colleges and universities.” Read More..
